Scot Birnie

Inducted into the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame June 11th, 2026.

Scot Birnie graduated from the Prescott minor hockey system to the Brockville Braves at the age of 15 after a year with the Braves. Scot spent 3 years in the OHL with Cornwall, North Bay, and Kingston. In 1983, he was selected in the seventh round of the NHL draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He was one of the final cuts from training camp and twice from the Hartford Whalers. Scot played parts of three minor pro seasons in the IHL with Toledo, Flint, and Fort Wayne. In the mid-1980’s he played on the Dartmouth Mounties when they won the Hardy Cup, the Canadian Senior AA hockey championship in 1990.
